A Leamington & County GC golfer is
eyeing up a million-euro prize after hitting
an ace during a tournament in southern Spain.
Jason Smith, who plays off a handicap of hour,
holed out on the 140-yard par three fourth at
the La Cala Club, a shot which earned him a
prize of 500 euros and a golfing break in Mauritius.
Should
he repeat the feat out in the tropics, he will
be able to class himself as a euro millionaire.
The
Sales Manager with Travel Management Group based
in Leamington said: 'People must have been able
to hear us 500 yards away. I was with a group
of clients when I hit an eight iron just past
the flag and watched it spin back into the hole,
the whole tee erupted.'
While
in Mauritius, Smith will be invited to play
another golf competition, over three rounds,
with the chance of claiming the bigger pot.
'The
Mauritius trip isn't the first that i've won-
although it is the first to come through a hole
in one, ' Smith added. 'In the past i've played
in golf competitions in Barbados and Malaysia,
which has been a bit of a bonus for me.'
